Rare 19th century Norwegian hanging padlock, hand forged by a traditional Norwegian blacksmith in the 1800s.
This authentic Nordic primitive lock represents classic Scandinavian folk craftsmanship. The lock later received a newly made key sometime during the 1900s, ensuring that it remains fully functional today. It opens and locks properly, though it requires a bit of technique — just as many antique mechanisms from this era do.
Each hammer mark and surface irregularity reflects true hand-forged character from a rural blacksmith workshop. The iron has developed a beautiful natural patina over time, adding depth, texture, and undeniable historical presence.
A remarkable collector’s piece that combines 19th century blacksmith work with continued life and use into the 20th century.
