A striking 1950s Japanese SSS Shoji Mercedes Benz tin toy car, finished in glossy red and complete with its original wired remote controller and colorful illustrated box.
Made in Japan, this battery operated toy represents the classic Mercedes Benz sports car styling of the period. The pressed tin body features chrome tone bumpers and trim, clear window panels, rubber tires and a colorful lithographed interior with dashboard instruments, steering wheel and seating details. The original box is printed “Remote Control Mercedes Benz” and “Battery Operated With Light.”
The green wired controller is still present with the car, making this a particularly appealing display set for collectors of Japanese tin toys, early remote control toys and vintage automobile memorabilia. The car was found stored away and appears to have seen very little use. It has not been tested, so the electrical, remote control and lighting functions are not guaranteed.
The car presents very well overall, with bright red paint and attractive original detailing. There are small age related marks, minor surface wear and light oxidation to some metal trim. The original box remains in very good vintage condition with some expected storage wear, edge wear and age marks. Please review the photographs carefully for the exact cosmetic condition.
