A charming small Norwegian folk art chest dating from the late 1800s. Pieces like this were used to store personal belongings, documents, and treasured keepsakes in rural Scandinavian homes.
The chest features a beautiful deep red painted surface with natural age wear that reveals layers of history. The original iron hinges remain intact. At some point in its life, two side moldings were added to the lid, a traditional repair that adds character without disturbing the authenticity. The interior is crafted in natural pine and includes a small internal compartment.
