This Norwegian folk art turned wooden bowl is dated Anno 1962 and decorated with detailed hand painted rosemaling in warm orange and golden tones. The interior features flowing scrollwork in traditional Scandinavian style.
Around the rim is a poetic Norwegian inscription that translates to: “Oh, I know of a land far up there in the north, with a shining shore between high mountains and fjords.” The verse reflects classic Norwegian national romantic imagery.
The bowl shows light interior wear from use, consistent with age.
