This is a Norwegian wooden cake stand dated 1961, made as a pedestal serving piece in the tradition of Scandinavian folk art and domestic craftsmanship. The stand is turned in wood on a lathe and further decorated with hand carving and traditional svi-dekor (pyrography), forming geometric borders and dotted patterns around the rim, stem, and base.
The surface shows honest age wear and patina from use, giving the piece an authentic and lived-in character. On the underside, there is a hand written Norwegian text together with the date, typical of personal folk art objects made for the home during this period.
