This authentic Norwegian bentwood tine dates to the 1800s and is a fine example of traditional Scandinavian folk craftsmanship. It is made using classic bentwood construction, where thin wooden boards were carefully planed, heated with hot steam, and bent into an oval form to create the body of the box.

Historically, tines like this were widely used on Norwegian farms. They served as practical storage for food such as butter, cheese, flatbread, and dried goods, but were also used to store sewing supplies and personal valuables. Many tines were given as wedding gifts, making them both functional and symbolic household objects.

This tine has clearly lived a long and honest life. It shows age-related wear and has undergone some later repairs, which are stable and consistent with long-term use. Today, it remains a solid and highly decorative piece with beautiful patina, well suited as a collectible or rustic interior accent.

• CONDITION: Strong antique patina, age wear, later repairs, stable decorative condition
• MATERIAL: Wood (traditional bentwood construction)
• MEASUREMENTS: 39 cm (15.4 in) long x 24 cm (9.4 in) wide x 25.5 cm (10 in) high
