Original vintage polar bear and cub sculptures designed by Swedish ceramic artist Oscar Hartung for Ego Stengods (Ego Keramik), produced during the 1960s–1970s.
The larger bear is modeled in a forward walking stance with strong sculptural presence and deeply carved fur textures. The glaze is characteristic of Hartung’s work — a speckled milky white stoneware glaze with subtle blue-green tonal variation. The smaller cub is a separate sculptural piece, designed in a seated pose, complementing the larger bear beautifully.
Hartung was one of the key Swedish ceramic artists associated with Ego Stengods, and these Arctic animal figures have become highly collectible examples of Scandinavian studio pottery.
