This vintage Norwegian tin box was produced by Chr. Bjelland & Co. in Stavanger and features classic rosemaling decoration in vivid colors on a deep blue background. The lid displays the well known fisherman emblem at the center.
Originally used as advertising packaging for sardines and other canned seafood, these tins were designed to hold several small boxes inside. The form is inspired by traditional Norwegian chests, giving it a strong Scandinavian character.
Today it works beautifully as decorative storage, a holiday keepsake box, or as part of a Nordic folk art display.
