Original Norwegian porcelain wall plaque designed by Konrad Galaaen for Porsgrund Studio during the 1960s–1970s. This piece features a stylized bird rendered in his distinctive deep relief glaze technique.
The motif is pressed into the porcelain to create recessed areas that are filled with richly colored glazes. This produces a strong depth effect and beautiful contrast between the raised black contours and the glossy color fields. The vivid blue, turquoise, green and yellow tones are characteristic of Scandinavian mid century porcelain design.
