Antique Norwegian sovelfat dating to the mid 1800s, originating from a farm in the Telemark region. A traditional piece of Scandinavian folk art, hand turned from solid wood in its natural tone.
The characteristic two in one form features a central dip bowl surrounded by a wide serving rim. Traditionally used for butter or dipping in the center, with flatbread, lefse or other food arranged around the outer section.
The surface shows honest age wear, tool marks and natural variations in the wood. Beautiful natural wood color with a soft aged patina. Stamped “HMP” underneath.
