Antique Norwegian folk art bowl, attributed to the early 1800s for safety, though a faint rim inscription appears to show the date 1740. The text along the rim is worn and difficult to fully interpret, but visible under close inspection.

Subtle rosemaling decoration can be seen both inside the bowl and along the exterior. The painted surface has aged into a deep, warm tone with dark banding and a stunning natural patina that only centuries can create. The form is hand turned with a traditional footed base.

The underside is marked “SSS,” and the bowl most likely originates from the Telemark region of Norway, an area well known for its strong decorative folk art tradition.

• Era: Early 1800s (possible earlier 1740 inscription)
