Authentic Norwegian folk art ale bowl from the mid 1800s, traditionally used as a shared beer bowl in rural households. A strong example of early primitive decorative painting from Scandinavia.
The interior is painted with a red ground and detailed folk motifs in yellow, green, blue and white. The decoration is executed with a steady and confident hand, giving the bowl both energy and balance. The upper exterior band is painted green with simple white brush decoration, while the lower half is finished in brown paint. The underside shows natural wood and turning marks from its original shaping.
The surface shows natural age wear, paint loss and handling marks consistent with long farmhouse use. Colors remain vibrant and expressive, and the bowl is structurally solid.
