Authentic Norwegian wooden ladle (ause) dated 1881 and marked underneath with the initials G E D. This is a substantial example, measuring 31 cm in length, placing it among the larger farmhouse serving ladles rather than small drinking cups.

Hand carved from a single piece of wood, likely birch burl, the bowl shows beautiful organic grain movement and depth. The sculpted handle flows naturally from the body, giving the piece both strength and elegant simplicity. It represents practical rural craftsmanship from late 19th century Norway.

The surface carries a warm, time-softened patina only age can create. There is a visible age crack in the bowl and wear along the rim — honest signs of long use. No modern repairs detected. Structurally stable as a decorative object.
