A rare 18th century Norwegian clamp candlestick, often called a “poor man’s candle holder.” This primitive iron light was designed to hold short candle stubs that were too small for traditional holders, making it an essential object in rural households.
Hand forged by a local blacksmith, it stands on a classic tripod base with a spring clamp arm that grips the candle firmly in place. These were practical farmhouse tools used for wax candles, rushlights or even resin wood splints.
The surface shows beautiful, untouched age patina with natural oxidation and honest wear from centuries of use. Structurally stable with strong presence. A true piece of early Scandinavian folk life with raw primitive charm.
