A large and richly decorated Norwegian wooden bowl featuring traditional rosemaling in vibrant colors. The surface is filled with detailed floral scrollwork, while a hand painted verse runs around the entire rim of the bowl, forming an integral part of the design. The verse reads: “When we preserve what is old, both outside and within, you honor your heritage and the memory of those who came before.”
This piece is hand painted and signed by Knut K Hovden, dated 1977. It represents classic Telemark rosemaling, known for its elegant curves, symbolic decoration, and expressive freehand brushwork.
