Step back into the golden age of early 20th-century Scandinavian decorative arts with this authentic Norwegian wooden picture frame, signed and dated H.W. 1920. Its elegant proportions and richly detailed black floral printed decoration on the wood surface give it a refined folk art presence with clear Art Nouveau influence.
This antique frame is crafted in wood with a warm golden-brown patina and features a deeply decorative front with climbing floral ornament surrounding the photo opening. Rather than pyrography, the decoration appears as a printed black floral design on the wood, creating a crisp and beautifully balanced contrast. The reverse is marked H.W. 1920, adding a personal maker's touch and strong period character.
It comes with its original integrated wooden easel stand, so it displays beautifully on a shelf, desk, mantel, or cabinet. As an added bonus, the frame still holds a charming vintage Norwegian postcard that was cut to fit the opening long ago.
