A substantial 1950s GAMA mechanical tinplate crane truck from West Germany, combining classic postwar toy engineering with an impressive working crane mechanism and large display size.
Made by GAMA and clearly marked “Made in Western Germany,” the truck features a metallic blue pressed tin body, ivory chassis and lattice crane boom, red wheels with black rubber tires, metal chains and an orange lifting basket. The original GAMA Mechanik label remains visible on the cab.
Several mechanical functions remain operational. The friction drive works, the crane can be raised and lowered, the lifting mechanism operates, and the entire crane housing rotates using the control at the rear. These working features give the toy considerable character as both a mechanical collector piece and display object.
The roof light fitting is present, but the light bulb is missing, so the lighting function has not been tested.
The truck is in good vintage condition overall with expected signs of age and play, including scattered paint loss, scratches, small marks and areas of oxidation. The rear control knob is partially broken but remains present. Please study the photographs carefully, as they show the condition and surviving mechanical details very clearly.
