An antique Norwegian tine from Os near Bergen, dating to the 1910s. Blue, yellow, green and peach-colored flowers decorate the pale background of this small oval wooden box, with matching painting across the removable lid.
The bentwood body has two upright end pieces and a curved lid handle. A painted banner on the front appears to read “Kiender du mig” — an older spelling of a question naturally translated as “Do you recognize me?” The lettering forms part of the floral decoration.
A colorful piece for a Norwegian folk art collection or a shelf display, with a small interior for keepsakes.
