Vintage Konrad Galaaen Advent Candle Holder - 1971 Porsgrund Purple Ceramic and Iron, Norwegian Design
$295.00
An uncommon Norwegian four-candle Advent holder designed by Konrad Galaaen for Porsgrund Porcelain and clearly dated 1971.
The square glazed ceramic plaque features a bold eight-pointed star surrounded by four circular candle openings. Its deep purple glaze and lighter raised outlines create a strong geometric expression associated with Scandinavian mid-century design.
The ceramic plaque is mounted in a sturdy black iron frame. With its substantial weight and low square form, this piece works beautifully as a centerpiece during Advent and the Christmas season.
Konrad Galaaen (1923–2004) was an important Norwegian ceramic artist and designer who worked for Porsgrund Porcelain for more than four decades. His colorful glazed reliefs are among his most recognizable decorative works.
