Vintage Konrad Galaaen Studio Galåen Seal Plate - Norwegian Ceramic Wall Art, Scandinavian Modern, 1970s
$245.00
Vintage Norwegian decorative ceramic plate attributed to Konrad Galaaen / Studio Galåen, likely dating to the 1970s.
The plate features a wonderfully stylized seal motif, drawn with bold black lines against a glossy pale ceramic surface. The seal’s expressive face, large outlined eyes, dark nose and dotted whisker details give the piece a playful but distinctly Scandinavian modern character.
The background is formed with a subtle raised relief pattern of flowing, concentric lines, adding depth and texture around the central seal design. The elongated, slightly shield-shaped form gives the piece a sculptural quality and makes it especially suitable as decorative wall art or display ceramics.
Konrad Galaaen is known for his important contribution to Norwegian ceramic design and for his long career with Porsgrund Porcelain. Decorative pieces associated with Studio Galåen from this period often combine clean modern forms with expressive graphic motifs.
