Vintage Konrad Galaaen Wall Candle Holder - Porsgrund Ceramic & Metal, Norwegian Mid Century Modern, 1970s
$196.00 $245.00
Vintage Norwegian wall-mounted candle holder designed by Konrad Galaaen for Porsgrund Porcelain, dating to the 1970s.
This distinctive Mid Century Modern piece combines a square glazed ceramic plaque with a black metal wall frame and projecting candle platform. The ceramic features a bold circular composition in warm mustard yellow, ochre, amber brown, cream and black tones.
The glaze has a rich, textured surface with warm tonal variation and intentional fine craquelure throughout. This crackle glaze effect is part of the original ceramic finish and gives the surface additional depth and character.
The strong circular design and earthy color palette give the piece a sculptural quality typical of Scandinavian Modern ceramics from the period. The dark metal frame creates a clean architectural contrast with the expressive glazed ceramic.
The metal construction includes a wall-mounting loop at the top and a projecting round candle platform with a central spike. It is suitable for a pillar candle up to approximately 6 cm / 2.4 in wide.
