Konrad Galaaen Ceramic Wall Candle Holder - 1960s Scandinavian Modernist Design in Iron
$460.00 $575.00
A striking Norwegian wall candle holder by Konrad Galaaen, dating to the 1960s. Handmade ceramic tiles set within a substantial iron frame bring together rich color, expressive surface texture, and a bold geometric composition.
A circular blue and turquoise motif dominates the upper section, above four smaller square tiles arranged in a grid. Shades of green, blue, and earthy brown create a varied palette, framed by dark iron that gives the piece a strong architectural outline.
The handmade tiles feature richly textured glazed surfaces, with glass-like visual depth and changing reflections that reward a closer look. These decorative effects contrast beautifully with the restrained iron frame and projecting round candle dish, making the piece appealing both as a candle holder and as sculptural wall decor.
